Michigan Youth Basketball has officially opened registration for its 2026 Fall League, welcoming boys and girls from Kindergarten through 12th grade to participate in another exciting season of youth basketball.

The league features an 8-week format designed to balance skill development, game experience and fun. Each week, teams will participate in a one-hour practice followed immediately by a one-hour game, giving players consistent opportunities to learn and compete. Practice and game days will vary depending on league location, with younger divisions typically scheduled in earlier time slots.

The season begins with a Meet and Greet in Week 1, where teams will gather for a 30-minute introduction followed by a full practice session. During this time, coaches will distribute jerseys and any additional equipment ordered during registration.

Weeks 2 through 7 will consist of regular practices and games, while Week 8 will serve as the postseason. Players in 3rd grade and above will compete in playoffs, while K–2nd grade participants will wrap up their season with a final practice and game.

All participants will receive an NBA-style reversible jersey, and K–2nd grade players will also be awarded individual participation medals. In the older divisions, championship and runner-up teams will earn trophies.

The league offers divisions tailored to different age groups and skill levels:

           K–2nd Grade (Coed):

Played in a 3-on-3 recreational format with a focus on fundamentals and participation. Teams are typically limited to six players to maximize playing time. There are no playoffs in this division.

Organized into divisions based on registration numbers, with no more than three grades combined. Games are played in a 5-on-5 format, with teams generally capped at 10 players. The top four teams advance to the playoffs, while others will compete in a consolation game.

Michigan Youth Basketball Partners with TeamSnap ONE to Elevate Family Experience

Michigan Youth Basketball has announced a new partnership with TeamSnap ONE, introducing an upgraded digital experience designed to simplify and enhance youth sports for families, players, and coaches.

The partnership brings a variety of new features focused on improving communication and organization across the league. Families will benefit from next-generation team chat and a unified schedule view, allowing them to stay up to date with all team activities. Schedules are automatically synced to users’ preferred calendars, helping reduce confusion and missed events.

A key addition to the platform is live streaming, which will be available as part of the TeamSnap+ upgrade. This feature enables families and fans to watch games from anywhere, ensuring that those unable to attend in person can still be part of the action.

In addition, Michigan Youth Basketball participants will gain access to age-specific, at-home training resources at no extra cost. Developed in partnership with professional leagues, these drills are designed to help athletes continue their development outside of team practices.

By combining communication, scheduling, optional live streaming, and built-in training content into one platform, TeamSnap ONE aims to eliminate many of the common challenges associated with managing youth sports. League officials believe the new system will create a more streamlined, connected, and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

“This partnership is about making our league easier and more accessible for our families, "Owner Matt Christensen said. “With everything in one place, we’re allowing families to spend less time coordinating logistics and more time enjoying the season.”

The rollout of TeamSnap ONE marks a significant step forward for Michigan Youth Basketball as it continues to invest in tools that support its growing community.

Michigan Youth Basketball is excited to announce a fresh new look for its leagues with the introduction of updated jersey designs for the upcoming seasons—including highly anticipated WNBA-inspired jerseys for girls divisions.

After hearing consistent feedback from families and players, league officials are proud to bring WNBA-style jerseys to their girls-only divisions. The addition reflects the growing popularity of the women’s game and provides young athletes with new opportunities to represent and connect with the sport in a meaningful way.

“We’ve been listening to our community, and the excitement around WNBA jerseys has been incredible,” Matt Christensen shared. “We’re thrilled to now offer these designs and continue growing the game for our female athletes.”

In addition to the new girls division jerseys, Michigan Youth Basketball will also roll out all-new NBA jersey designs for coed and boys divisions. These updated styles aim to bring a modern and refreshed look to the league while maintaining the connection to the professional game that players love.

The expanded jersey selection is part of the organization’s ongoing effort to enhance the overall player experience—giving every participant something exciting to wear while representing their team on the court.

With new designs across all divisions, Michigan Youth Basketball continues to build an engaging, inclusive, and high-energy environment for athletes of all ages.

“This is about more than just jerseys—it’s about creating excitement and pride for our players every time they step on the court,” Matt Christensen added. “We can’t wait to see all of our teams in their new look this season.”
